Thriving Immigrant
Congregations Initiative
The Thriving Immigrant Congregations Initiative (TICI) aims to equip immigrant churches to foster healthy intergenerational and intercultural relationships within their congregations so that they might thrive in fulfilling God's mission locally and globally.
Why TICI?
While growing in numbers, many immigrant churches are caught up in deep conflicts between foreign-born, first-generation members and their American-born counterparts. The TICI ministry aims to equip immigrant churches to grow in their capacity to strengthen intergenerational and intercultural relationships and partnerships, enabling these churches to move forward as healthy spiritual and missional communities.
What is Unique about TICI?
TICI does not provide one-time conferences or workshops for pastors. Rather, TICI offers a two-year learning journey for each participating church, represented by a team of 5-9 first- and second-generation leaders. Such a team, in turn, aims to reshape the church culture and its way of doing intergenerational partnership in mission.
Jonathan Ahn - Korean Presbyterian Church, Maryland
“TICI has given me great awakening about the journey.”
Dorothy Lau - The Chinese Bible Church of Maryland in Rockville, Maryland
“A couple of insights from our participation in TICI were finding that there is so much capacity and potential for relationship building & leadership development…”
What
We Do
The TICI ministry forms a multiethnic learning community, comprising ten to twelve immigrant churches from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and guides them through a two-year learning journey. After completing their initial two-year program, these immigrant churches continue their learning journey, guided and resourced by TICI.
– Program Highlights
During the two-year TICI learning journey, participating churches attend two in-person gatherings each year (called TICI Learning Community Gathering). The four LCG events are organized around the following four themes:
Healthy intergenerational and intercultural relationships and partnerships
Healthy congregational culture that promotes intergenerational relationships and partnerships
Effective intergenerational partnerships in doing God’s mission locally and globally
Moving forward in the intergenerational journey

Join Us in the Work God is Doing Through TICI
It is our desire to see more immigrant churches have opportunities to participate in this unique Kingdom ministry, and your partnership will make this possible. Every gift, whether one-time or ongoing, helps us serve more immigrant churches by starting additional cohorts for the TICI learning journey, developing resources, and offering consultation and coaching.
If you share our vision for thriving immigrant churches, would you prayerfully consider supporting TICI today?
Together, we can join the work that the Lord has already begun.
